YVETTE face cream - which one to choose?

A proper facial care routine affects the healthy and youthful appearance of the face, as well as our well-being. So it is crucial to determine our skin type, which will allow us to choose the right type of cosmetics. There are 4 basic skin types: dry, oily, combination and normal. Each of them can additionally be skin: mature, vascular, hyperpigmented, acne-prone, sensitive or allergic.

How do you determine your skin type?

You may be tempted to determine your skin type yourself by observing how your skin behaves under different weather conditions, or how it looks after washing with water, using milk or toner, but also after using soap and applying cream. It is always a good idea to consult a beautician or dermatologist.

Dry skin

Dry skin often manifests itself temporarily - for example, it appears only in winter - but can nevertheless be a permanent condition. Signs and symptoms of dry skin depend on your age, health, where you live, time spent outdoors, etc. Dry skin can manifest itself:

Sensation of skin tightness, especially after showering, bathing or swimming
Roughness
Itching
Slight or severe flaking
Fine wrinkles or cracks
Grayish skin tone
Redness

How to care for dry skin?

  • Use mild cleansers without SLS and SLES for washing.
  • Look for creams that contain moisturizing and fatty ingredients - they rebuild the lipid mantle, while preventing water from escaping from the skin layers. They also have the ability to bind and retain water in the epidermis. Look for protein hydrolysates, glycerin, for example, in creams, as well as emollients, such as vegetable oils, which form a protective film on the surface of the skin.

Oily skin

Oily skin is the result of overproduction of sebum by sebaceous glands. These glands are located beneath the surface of the skin. Sebum is an oily substance made up mainly of fats. Sebum helps protect and keep the skin moisturized and ensures shiny and healthy hair. However, too much of it can lead to oily skin, resulting in clogged pores and pimples. Genetics, hormonal changes and even stress can intensify sebum production.

How to care for oily skin?

  • Avoid aggressive washing agents with high pH
  • Use toners to refresh your complexion and tighten your pores. Rather, choose alcohol-free ones.
  • Use hydrogels and low-fat emulsions and mattifying creams that absorb excess oil.
  • Regularly use enzymatic or chemical peels and masks based on ingredients that strongly absorb sebum.

Combination skin

The combination skin type is characterized by dry, flaky skin on the cheeks, while other areas of the face develop excessive oiliness and shine. People with combination skin are in a constant battle with their excessively oily T-zone, which includes the forehead, nose and chin.

How to care for combination skin?

  • Start with a gentle but effective water-soluble cleaner
  • Use a moisturizing, soothing non-irritating toner
  • Use a gentle, non-abrasive enzyme scrub
  • Protect your skin from sun damage by using SPF
  • Use a nighttime moisturizer in the form of a gel or serum of even liquid consistency

Normal skin

"Normal" is a term commonly used to refer to well-balanced skin. The scientific term for well-balanced skin is eudermic complexion. The T-zone (forehead, chin and nose) may be a bit oily, but overall the amount of sebum and the degree of hydration are balanced, and the skin is neither too oily nor too dry.

How to care for normal skin?

  • Treat your skin according to its current needs. You can make minor adjustments to your skin care routine to deal with occasional dryness or excessive oiliness, etc. Feel that your skin is excessively dry? Swap a light moisturizer for a richer formula....
  • The key to maintaining skin health is to protect it from debilitating environmental stressors. UV rays, blue light radiation and pollution expose the skin to free radicals - unstable and highly reactive molecules that damage healthy cells. Prevent by using appropriate protective formulations such as SPF
